The 2026 Washington State Legislative Session HAS started! This session is currently scheduled to hold hearings virtually and in person at the state Capitol in Olympia.
This year is what is considered a short session that will go until March 12th, 2026.
The Governor’s budget was released. You can read a summary of the Governor’s budget concerning Developmental Disabilities services HERE
The Developmental Disabilities Ombuds have concerns about funding cuts to services that help people transition into community residential services including cuts to SOLA (State-Operated Living Alternative) funding and eliminating additional community transition case management. We also have concerns about future changes to functional eligibility criteria requirements to receive DDCS (Developmental Disabilities Community Services) services.
We will post more information about how to participate in the Legislative Session and what issues are being discussed in the future!
