The 2021 legislative session has come to an end. This session was very different because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. People used Zoom to testify in hearings, and to engage with legislators remotely. The DD Ombuds and other advocates educated legislators by emailing, calling, and participating in virtual events.

Below are a few bills that the DD Ombuds are excited that passed:

 

HB 1061– Concerning youth eligible for developmental disability services who are expected to exit the child welfare system.

HB 1086– Creating the state office of behavioral health consumer advocacy.

HB 1218– Improving health, safety, and quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities.

HB 1227– Protecting the rights of families responding to allegations of abuse or neglect of a child.

SB 5284– Eliminating subminimum wage certificates for persons with disabilities.
