In July 2020 the Developmental Disabilities Ombuds (DD Ombuds) began telephone visits to residents of Long Term Care facilities and clients of Certified Community Residential Service and Support. The DD Ombuds will begin outdoor visits in the near future as appropriate.
The DD Ombuds will not visit residents who have a confirmed or presumptive COVID-19 diagnosis. The DD Ombuds will provide their own face coverings and other appropriate PPE, practice social distancing.
The DD Ombuds is a private, nonprofit established by the Washington State legislature to inform people with developmental disabilities of their rights and assist people with their concerns and complaints about services. Some of the required duties of the DD Ombuds include the duty to monitor and review services and make recommendations for changes.
The DD Ombuds operates under the authority of RCW 43.382 which remains in full effect.
